World No. 1 Justine Henin is aiming to rebound from her Australian Open quarterfinal loss at the upcoming Proximus Diamond Games in Antwerp, Belgium.
The Belgian star is leading the main draw at next week’s Tier II tournament, followed by two other Top 10 players, Anna Chakvetadze and Daniela Hantuchova.
Maria Sharapova snapped Justine Henin’s 32-match win streak in straight-sets at Melbourne. Prior to losing in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open, Henin had not lost a match since the semifinals of the 2007 Wimbledon Championships.
Henin’s last appearance at the Proximus Diamond Games was in 2003, where she lost to her countrywoman Kim Clijsters in the semifinals.
Defending champion Amelie Mauresmo is not returning to Antwerp this year. Mauresmo defeated the now-retired Clijsters in the final last season to win her third overall Proximus Diamond Games title and the prestigious diamond studded tennis racquet.
