Jelena Jankovic Joins Bangalore Open Field

Venus and Serena Williams will not be the only top ten stars headlining the Bangalore Open.

Tournament officials announced on Monday that world No. 4 Jelena Jankovic has signed up to compete in March’s tournament.

The 2008 Bangalore Open will be hosted in Bangalore for the third time on March 3-9. The Bangalore Open is the biggest women’s tennis tournament not only in India, but all of southern Asia. The event was previously given Tier III status on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour, but has been promoted to a Tier II for 2008.

“It is great to be part of India’s first Tier II tennis extravaganza at Bangalore,” said Jankovic according to the India Times.

“I look forward to play some tough tennis in front of a passionate lovers of the sport.”
