I’m so over what I call “Black People Syndrome” here evidenced by Serena Williams. Do I care how many “Black” tennis players there are. **** no. BPS has varying symptoms but the main point is that some special compensation must be made on order to get more “Black” people involved. BPS produces dumb statements like “some Black people can’t afford it.” Really? So what!! I can substitute any ethnicity for “Black” and that will still be factual.
BPS demeans “Black” people. Is there a movement by the WTA, ITF or ATP to restrict what ethnicities can participate? No. Quite the opposite.
BPS is like – imagine if Eminem was saying “Yeah, I want to get more Whites in Hip-Hop. It makes me smile whenever I see more White faces rapping. etc . .”
Wow. POV, you sound racist. I don’t even care what is your ethnic background, you are a racist.
lol. Okay. If you can explain how what I expressed makes me seem racist that would help. I think that if a “White” player had said “I want even more white faces in the top 10″ you’d recognize that as being racist. Yet there seems to be a common blind-spot when it comes to seeing that a “Black” person wanting things to be more “Black” is also racist.
If Serena Williams point was that there must be open and fair access or that there are policies opposed to Black participation that would be very different. Those are things I support that 100%
