Amelie Mauresmo’s Indian Wells Campaign Ends Dismally

Former world No. 1 Amelie Mauresmo was bundled out of the 2008 Pacific Life Open in straight sets on Sunday.
Mauresmo, who has only won ten matches this season, lost to Alona Bondarenko in the third round 6-1, 6-2.
The French star has been trapped in a slump since early 2007 and admitted in February that she had been considering retirement.
“I want to keep on playing but at the same time I am wondering if it’s the right thing to do,” said Mauresmo while in Doha for the Qatar Total Open.
Today against Bondarenko, Mauresmo could barely keep her serves in play and posted seven double faults. Twenty-three year-old Bondarenko took advantage of Mauresmo’s poor form and did not even give the two-time Grand Slam champion a look at a break point.
