WTA Tour to Live Stream Indian Well’s Final

The Sony Ericsson WTA Tour’s long awaited live streaming debut will take place on Sunday, March 23 at 3:00 PM ET with the 2008 Pacific Life Open women’s final.

Sunday’s final will be available for free on the internet at www.sonyericssonwtatour.com.

Because of licensing and television rights, Sunday’s final will not be streamed in the United States, Europe, Japan, Hong Kong, and Australia.

Sony Ericsson WTA Tour CEO Larry Scott announced in November after the close of the Sony Ericsson Championships that the Tour would be entering the online playing field of match streaming in 2008.

“You are also going to see next year significant activities taking advantage of the emergence of digital technology and the internet,” said Scott.

“We are going to be taking our TV pictures and showing more highlights online next year. From each of our Tier I tournaments next year we’ll be live streaming the finals from those events.”
