Although, I have to burst your bubble. The singles champions get $1.6 million. Mixed doubles champs get far, far less and still have to split it in half.

I should look into the lifetime membership, cause I always forget to renew my membership every year until after it expires.

Yeah, I think I paid for a lifetime membership or something like that for the USTA, but I could be wrong…then there’s the Friend of the Zoo, National Wildlife…

At 25 years old, this bad economy might make me stop donating! :-(

Maybe you and I could compete in the Mix Double Aaeress…we could use the $1.6 mill! :-D

It’ll mean that whoever’s in the second half of the draw will play Thursday (1/4) Friday (1/2) Saturday (final). They’ll have to make sure that the top half of the draw plays on the “Sunday start” therefore, otherwise someone could theoretically play Sunday (1) Wednesday (2) Saturday (3) and then have Tue (4) Thu (1/4) Fri (1/2) Sat (F). Too spread out and then too close together.

Great info on the Roland Garros breakdown. I think it’s great that both the men and women will be paid equal amounts. They’re doing the same thing!

Thanks for the update on the scheduling! I find it interesting that they divided the quarterfinals into two days, although that now means that the women’s draw will be competing every day, instead of having a day off.

Whoops, my daughter pressed “submit” there on my behalf a little early, sorry!
They are also scheduling the women’s Round of 16 and quarter-finals over two days each instead of getting them done and dusted in one. R of 16 on the second Monday and Tuesday, 1/4s on Wed and Thur,
There will also be a bigger first Sunday, 16 singles matches from the men’s and 16 from the women’s.

Where do they get all of this money to pay the players? $1.6 mil is a lot of money, probably half the money comes from rich moms/dads who pay for their children into the Tennis Association programs :-D

Like the USTA, using my $300 to pay Justine and Roger when they win the US Open :-D
