After a short hiatus, Tennis Live Radio returns to the internet airwaves tonight at 6:00 pm ET with their first broadcast of 2008.
For the first time, listeners will not only be able to hear TLR’s broadcast, but also watch on the new web-cam video stream.
TLR begins its 4th radio season on Tuesday, April 29th with an all star guest lineup, which is scheduled to include four-time Grand Slam champion and Champions Cup Tennis founder Jim Courier, TennisReporters.net and FoxSports.com Matthew Cronin, and from NBCSports.com and host of the Tennis Live Radio College Corner Harry Cicma.
First broadcast in 2005, Tennis Live Radio is dedicated to covering the sport of tennis through its unique production of on-air and online radio broadcasts. Tennis Live Radio has welcomed the game’s top players, coaches, journalists and others to its radio program.
On the Baseline recently caught up with Tennis Live Radio’s host and producer Todd Skovron to discuss the new show and how tennis fans around the world can take part in their new community.
After being off the air for several months, what can listeners expect to hear from the new Tennis Live Radio?
We have always taken a break from broadcasting following the Davis Cup final in early December to assess how we want to improve for the upcoming New Year. Our ‘off season’ was extended in ’08 because we decided to upgrade not only our weekly radio program, but also our website TennisLiveRadio.com. Listeners can expect another season of exciting debate and discussion.
TLR is a unique, weekly talk radio program dedicated to analyzing the game with the players, coaches, journalists and FANS. Regarding the new TennisLiveRadio.com, it offers much more than it did in 2007. Aside from a fresh new look, TennisLiveRadio.com offers two new exciting features. The Tennis Live Community and Tennis Live TV (more on each below).
As well as the new radio program, TLR also plans to launch video content on Tuesday. What is special about the new Tennis Live TV?
Tennis Live TV is a simple concept. When our fourth radio season kicks off on April 29th, listeners will be allowed ‘behind the curtain’ to view how TLR functions in studio. A recently installed studio webcam will allow the Tennis Live audience to watch as we broadcast live.
This concept is not new. Many top rated radio programs have been and are producing their programs for television, but the increased power of the internet is now allowing the same to be done online. Tennis Live Radio offers an audio-only feed for those who listen with low bandwidth.
What features and interviews can we look forward to hearing in the next several weeks?
It is difficult for us to predict who we will be interviewing from week to week, but we can tell you that 4-time slam champ Jim Courier will be joining us on our April 29th (6pm eastern) broadcast to discuss the Champions Cup Boston, as well as how his former coach Jose Higueras may influence Roger Federer during the clay court season.
Fans should sign up on TennisLiveRadio.com to receive our email update to ensure they don’t miss any upcoming interviews and the opportunity to ask our guests their own questions.
How can our readers at On the Baseline take part in the new Tennis Live Radio community?
Last year we experienced a dramatic increase in listener participation. As a result, we wanted to provide a better way for fans to communicate with us, as well as with each other in 2008. The Tennis Live Community is our completely free membership that allows fans the opportunity to create personal profiles, post opinions, and send each other messages. The Community also includes member only audio and contest eligibility.
We are excited about this new feature and look forward to growing the Tennis Live Community in 2008. Thank you to On the Baseline for helping spread the word. We believe no fan should be unaware of TennisLiveRadio.com.
