Before we officially say goodbye to Roland Garros, take a look at a few of the statistics from this year’s tournament.
Ironically, the woman who hit the most double faults took home the singles title.
40 - Double faults, the most of any woman in the tournament, hit by Ana Ivanovic along the way to her first major title.
4 - Women who could have left Paris ranked No. 1 in the world.
78 - Combined winners hit by Ana Ivanovic and Dinara Safina in the championship match.
42 - Break points converted by Ana Ivanovic during her two weeks in Paris.
39 - Countries represented in the singles draw.
1,000,000 Euros - Ana Ivanovic’s prize money for winning the singles title.
127 - Women entered into the main draw who had never won the French Open.
125 mph - The fastest serve of the women’s tournament. The serve was hit by Venus Williams.
25 - Aces hit by Svetlana Kuznetsova, the most of any player in the women’s draw.
17 - Double faults hit by then world No. 1 Maria Sharapova in her first round match against Evgeniya Rodina.
4 - Days it took to complete the first round of play.

According to the Roland Garros website, Ana Ivanovic hit a total of 23 double faults. Your number of 40 comes closer to Maria Sharapova’s 43 double faults.

Hi KC,
The official statistics which were used for this article shows 43 double faults for Ivanovic, and only 26 for Sharapova.

Thanks! Yes, unfortunately, this is not the first I’ve heard about the stats not adding up during the past 2 weeks in Paris.
I’ll look into it and see if I can find out which count is accurate.
