Poland’s Agnieszka Radwanska defeated fourth seed Svetlana Kuznetsova in three sets 6-4, 1-6, 7-5 on Monday at Wimbledon.
Kuznetsova held a set and 4-1 lead in the third set, but could not close out the match for a spot in the quarterfinals.
This has been a devastating Grand Slam for the tournament’s top four seeds. Second seed Maria Sharapova lost in the second round, top seed Ana Ivanovic fell in the third, and third seed Jelena Jankovic fell along with Kuznetsova in the fourth round today.
In an earlier match on day seven at the Championships, Serena Williams defeated her countrywoman Bethanie Mattek in straight sets. Williams, a two-time former champion at Wimbledon, needed just over one hour to defeat Mattek 6-3, 6-3.
Radwanska will play Serena Williams in the quarterfinals on Tuesday.

Agnieszka Radwanska took out Sharapova last year. She has proven again that she is a fighter. She just hang in there really well.
I can only wait to see what Serena has to say when they meet.
Svetlana is fast becoming a disappointment though. Her mental toughness is woeful!

I know Radwanska beat Sharapova at last year’s US Open but it was because Sharapova can’t play well. Remember that last year was when Maria got hampered by her right shoulder injury and her serves could hardly climb on the net. And this year, she beat Radwanska in their last meeting in straight sets.
But I know Radwanska is an upcoming talent, she has Junior GS titles under her belt. Surely, Kuznetsova feels extremely bad on her loss because the one who beat her was the same person who took her out in the 3rd round of the Australian Open this year. Poor Sveta =(
