Elena Dementieva is through to her first Wimbledon semifinal after outlasting her Russian countrywoman Nadia Petrova on Tuesday.

The two-time Grand Slam finalist advanced to the final four with a 6-1, 6-7(6), 6-3 victory.

It was a memorable win for Dementieva, who headed into the match with a losing 4-7 record against Petrova. She struggled with closing out the match in the second set, but recovered after losing the tie break.
