The two-time Grand Slam finalist advanced to the final four with a 6-1, 6-7(6), 6-3 victory.

It was a memorable win for Dementieva, who headed into the match with a losing 4-7 record against Petrova. She struggled with closing out the match in the second set, but recovered after losing the tie break.

Facing Dementieva in her first semifinal at the Championships is four-time champion Venus Williams. Williams handily advanced to her seventh career Wimbledon semifinal with a straight sets 6-4, 6-3 win over veteran Tamarine Tanasugarn.
