Lindsay Davenport Pulls Out of East West Bank Classic

Lindsay Davenport’s dreams of a second Olympic gold medal took a major hit on Wednesday when the former No. 1 was forced to withdraw from her fourth consecutive tournament.

The California native will miss the upcoming East West Bank Classic in Los Angeles.

Davenport was scheduled to compete this week at the Bank of the West Classic in Stanford, but withdrew at the last minute because of a nagging knee injury. Now, the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour has told Reuters that the thirty-two year-old veteran has also withdrawn from next week’s Tier I event at the Home Depot Center.

The clock is quickly running out for Davenport to prepare for the Summer Olympics, one of the main reasons that she returned to professional tennis after giving birth to her first child last year. Davenport has been named to Team USA for the singles competition and is also scheduled to play doubles with Liezel Huber in Beijing.

That’s very sad, hate seeing people pull out.
