Russia Defends Fed Cup Title

Russia, the most dominant nation in women’s tennis, has successfully defended its Fed Cup by BNP Paribas title.

The Russian squad of Svetlana Kuznetsova, Vera Zvonareva, Elena Vesnina, and Ekaterina Makarova handily defeated Spain 4-0.

Host nation Spain’s team featured Anabel Medina Garrigues, Carla Suarez Navarro, and Nuria Llagostera Vives.

Although the two countries played the final doubles rubber, they did not contest the reverse singles on Sunday after Kuznetsova clinched the title with a three set win over Anabel Medina Garrigues.
