
Former world number one Martina Hingis is expected to compete this weekend in Mill Valley, California.
Hingis will headline the 2008 Esurance Tennis Classic on October 10-12 at Harbor Point Tennis Club.
The five-time Grand Slam winner will join a line-up of men and women Grand Slam legends who will compete during the weekend Celebrity Pro-Am and World Team tennis Shoot-Out benefitting To Celebrate Life Breast Cancer, Prostate Cancer Support Network & the Youth Tennis Advantage.
Although Hingis is currently serving a two-year suspension for cocaine use, she is still permitted to play in exhibition events.
Mary Joe Fernandez, Conchita Martinez, Corina Morariu, Brad Gilbert, Rick Leach, Murphy Jensen and Jan-Michael Gambill are also expected to participate.
“With Martina Hingis playing in the Bay Area, combined with Esurance as our Title Sponsor and national television coverage, the ETC will be the place to be for tennis fans this fall. Harbor Point Tennis Club is easy to reach and its stellar views make the weekend unforgettable,” said Event Producer Rosie Casals in a statement.
General Admission is $25 per adult/ $10 children. Ticket Packages ranging from $250 – $1,500 with exclusive VIP benefits have sold out quickly in the past by loyal supporters of this event and the charities.
The 2008 Esurance Tennis Classic will be televised on Comcast Sportsnet regionally and other U.S. markets, as well as nationally on Versus.
