Sony Ericsson WTA Tour Rankings: October 13

Jelena Jankovic moved closer to clinching the season-ending number one tennis ranking after winning the Kremlin Cup.
Jankovic’s main competition for the top spot, Dinara Safina and Serena Williams, are not expected to compete again until Doha.
The duo’s absence from the Tour circuit during the next few weeks will all but guarantee that Jankovic ends 2008 as the No. 1 player in the world.

Jankovic deserves to be the #1 player. After watching her play the last few tournaments she has really proven herself. Hope that she holds on to it for a while. It would be nice to see another women’s tennis legend created.
