November 4th is rapidly approaching as the American public prepares to elect a new president.
For today’s edition of Open Forum Friday, tell us what current ATP or WTA Tour player would make the best fantasy leader for your nation.
Although a professional tennis player has never been elected commander-in-chief, many pros share a few traits in common with John McCain and Barack Obama. Like candidates, they quickly develop a global worldview, can adapt and relate to diverse cultures, learn to handle themselves in front of the media, and often are thrust into the public spotlight based on good—or bad—performances.
Even if you are not from the United States, you are welcome to cast your fictional vote for President in today’s discussion. The only prerequisite is that the person is an active competitor on the ATP or WTA Tours. Nationality is unimportant in a fantasy election, so you may vote for a player regardless of where they live or were born.
You can leave a comment simply with a name or even tell us why you would vote for that player.
Everyone, have fun and enjoy today’s discussion. And don’t forget to go out and vote on November 4!

Interesting topic…I say Liezel Huber would be a great President – she’s a new American citizen, and is a member of the WTA Player’s Council, so she clearly has an interest in the governance of the game.
Liezel is a good choice, Paula. Like you said, she is a member of the Player’s Council so that has given her experience in a form of government.
Plus, she is also very civic minded and has given a lot back to her community.
Jelena Jankovic is best choice! JJ for president!
In my opinion, the president needs to be charismatic, intelligent, confident, respectful of other’s point of view, thoughtful (not to mention honesty and integrity).
Based on those attributes, I would vote for James Blake.

In a newspaper interview during the summer Marion said she could see herself going into politics when she hangs up her racquets! So you know who gets mt vote!!
