Top seed Jelena Jankovic won her first match at the 2009 Australian Open in a dominating fashion.

The world number one cruised into the second round of play after beating Yvonne Meusburger in two sets 6-1, 6-3.

Sporting a lime green dress from her new clothing sponsor ALTA, Jankovic needed only seventy minutes to win her first match of 2009.

While many players opted to compete at the Auckland, Brisbane, Sydney and Hobart warm-up tournaments, Jankovic was originally scheduled to prepare for the Australian Open at the JB Group Classic exhibition event in Hong Kong. Jankovic did travel to China, but the flu forced her to make an early exit from the event as she withdrew shortly after losing her first match to Venus Williams.

Jankovic will await the winner of the Kirsten Flipkens vs. Rossana De Los Rios match in the second round.
