You are right, Alice. It’s moments like these that make a Grand Slam memorable.

Sometimes it is comforting to see an established order in place (I’m thinking of Justine Henin at Roland Garros), but often, a little shaking up is just what the Tour needed. Like you said, Serena could still walk away with the tournament, but as the days go by, it looks more and more like we will see a new champion crowned at Melbourne Park.

This has been a great AO so far. So many great stories. (I only wish I could see more televised coverage!)

See Aaress that’s the point I made on OTB last week. It’s great to see Kleybanova, Dokic, Suarez Navarro, and others shaking things up.

Tennis fatalism isn’t good for the vitality of the sport. Where players go on court expecting to get beat by a Henin or Sharapova. Now there is a belief among many of these girls that they too can compete for the honors instead of a predictable cartel of 2 or 3 players winning the big honors all the time.

Serena will probabaly still win it when all is said and done, but the journey to the final weekend is definately getting more interesting in my opinion.
