Former WTA Tour player Mirka Vavrinec married her long-time boyfriend Roger Federer in Basel, Switzerland on Saturday.
Vavrinec reached a career high of No. 76 on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour rankings before retiring in 2002 because of a foot injury.
Federer announced the news of their nuptials this afternoon on his official website.
“Earlier today, in my hometown of Basel, surrounded by a small group of close friends and family, Mirka and I got married,” Federer said. “It was a beautiful spring day and an incredibly joyous occasion.”
The couple is expecting their first child later this year.

hm. Well, good luck to them anyway.
Congratulations, Roger and Mirka! I had a feeling that you two were going to marry, and the wedding would be low-key. What great news! Mr. and Mrs. Federer, Roger and Mirka Federer. Delightful news, and top of that, you two are going to be parents this summer. Well at least Roger’s personal life is going great. God bless you both and your unborn child.
Congratulations, Roger&Mirka on your recent wedding. Talk about under the radar. Everything you do seems to be low key and classy and getting married without the fanfare that seems to doom other public figures is your style.
Happiness to both
Congrats from Mum’s home country!May God bless you all.
