Jelena Dokic’s agent issued a formal statement on her behalf Thursday regarding the arrest of the tennis player’s father, Damir.

Damir was detained by Serbian police after threatening to fire a rocket at the Australian ambassador’s automobile.

According to Blic, a Serbian paper, police raided his home and found two illegal detonation devices.

“Jelena is very distressed and saddened by her father’s arrest,” said her agent Lawrence Frankopan.

“She understands well the severity of the situation. Obviously, she cannot, in any way, be held responsible for her father’s actions. Jelena remains 100% focused on her tennis in preparation for the upcoming French Open. We will have no further comment on this unfortunate situation.”

Dokic was reportedly angry after his daughter gave a revealing interview to Sport&Style about the physical and mental abuse she endured from him.

Poor Jelena. She has always been one of my favorite players. Her father needs some serious professional help. He sould seek it immediately. Why can’t he see that he has played a large role in hindering what could have been an even greater career for Jelena. I am just glad that she has gotten from under his tyranny.
