As Kim Clijsters prepares to launch her tennis comeback this weekend at Wimbledon, she will be playing with a familiar racquet in hand.
Clijsters, a former world number one and US Open champion, will compete under the new Centre Court roof at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club with the Babolat Pure Drive.
“Babolat has always supported me during my career. When I made the decision to go back to competition, there was no question for me, it would be with Babolat,” says Clijsters. “It’s great to feel the sensation of my Pure Drive again. See you this weekend at Wimbledon!”
The inventor of tennis racquet strings 134 years ago in Lyon, France, Babolat is among the world leaders in tennis racquets. The Pure Drive racquet is also used by many other touring professionals including Andy Roddick.
“We have been working together since 1999 when Kim was only 16 years-old. She’s a player with outstanding athletic and personal qualities. Our relationship is based on mutual trust. We are very glad to be with her for her comeback on the Tour” says Eric Babolat, CEO of Babolat.

Babolat is also used by both No. 1 players: Dinara Safina and Rafael Nadal. I guess they’re doing something right! Other WTA players using Babolat racquets: Wozniacki, Vesnina, Petrova, and Li Na.
Too bad Kim isn’t making her comeback in Warsaw. What a match that would be…Clijsters vs. Sharapova.
