Dinara Safina solidified her status as the number one tennis player in the world by winning her second consecutive title on Sunday.

Safina, the top seed at the Mutua Madrilena Madrid Open, needed only two sets to win her eleventh career title.

Against ninth seed Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark, the top Russian cruised to her second win of the 2009 Sony Ericsson WTA Tour season in straight sets 6-2, 6-4.

“I have come to find my place,” said Safina.

“I feel comfortable being No.1. It was my dream from the beginning to be No.1 and I always believed I could get it. Once I got it, I was ready for it. That’s why I think I’m enjoying it so much. Since I became No.1 I’ve played better and better.”
