Argentina’s Gisela Dulko won one of the biggest Grand Slam matches of her career on Wednesday.

Gisela DulkoDulko beat former champion Maria Sharapova in three sets 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 at the 2009 Championships at Wimbledon.

Sharapova had gone 11-3 across three tournaments since returning from injury, including a 6-0 record in three-set matches.

Since returning from her lengthy layoff, Sharapova has been besieged by problems with her serve. Today against Dulko, she posted nine double faults and saw her serve broken five times during the two-hour match.

Sharapova mounted a comeback late in the second set when faced with a love-3 deficit, but lost the match in the third and deciding set after a forehand sailed long past the baseline.

Dulko will face another Russian, Nadia Petrova, in the third round.

A great win for Dulko and much appreciated by me. We won’t have to hear Sharapova’s obnoxious screaming again, at least until next touranament. She (Maria) should be told to SHUT UP!
