Former world number one Ana Ivanovic will be on an injury-induced vacation for the next few weeks.
Ivanovic, the 2008 French Open champion, has a micro-tear in her left thigh muscle and must rest for the next 1-2 weeks. She suffered the injury on Monday during her fourth round match against Venus Williams at Wimbledon.
“Although highly painful, the injury is not serious,” a spokesperson for Ivanovic said on Tuesday in a statement.
As Ivanovic’s next scheduled tournament is not until August, the injury is not expected to disrupt her Sony Ericsson WTA Tour playing schedule.
