Retired professional tennis player Mirka Vavrinec and her husband Roger Federer are now the proud parents of twin daughters.

The girls, Charlene Riva and Myla Rose, were born Thursday night in Switzerland.

The news of their birth was announced by the fifteen-time Grand Slam champion winner on his official web site.

“This is the greatest day of our lives,” Federer said. “Mirka, Myla and Charlene are all healthy and doing very well.”

Vavrinec reached a career high of No. 76 on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour rankings before retiring in 2002 because of a foot injury.

Maybe we will have another sister combination in 18 years like the Williams’. It would be interesting given the subtle communication between twins. Doubles anyone? Didn’t hear whether they were identical or not.
    Congrats.

Unfortunately for the Federer-sisters, Laura and Nicol Cíleková (Karina Habšudová’s daughters) and Mia Maric (Iva Majoli’s daughter) will be dominating women’s tennis in the late 2020s and 2030s.
