Melanie Oudin saw her dream US Open run end in straight sets on Thursday night at Flushing Meadows.

The seventeen year-old American was beaten 6-2, 6-2 by Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark.

Wozniacki headed into the match knowing that most of the crowd in packed Arthur Ashe Stadium would be rooting for the Georgian teenager, but this did little to cower the eighth seed. Wozniacki dominated from the start of the match and closed out the win in two sets for a berth in Friday’s semifinals.

Her opponent in the next round is unseeded Yanina Wickmayer. The Belgian nineteen year-old ousted Kateryna Bondarenko in two sets 7-5, 6-4 in the first quarterfinal of the day.

The bottom half of the women’s draw contested its quarterfinals on Tuesday with second seed Serena Williams and wild card Kim Clijsters reaching the semifinals.
