Justine Henin Congratulates Kim Clijsters on US Open Title

Kim Clijsters received a note of congratulations on Tuesday from one of her countrywomen—and a formal rival.

Justine Henin, the other half of Belgian’s once dominant tennis duo, has congratulated Clijsters on her new US Open singles title.

“Congratulations with your magnificent victory,” said Henin on Tuesday in a message published on her official web site.

“Once again, Jada can be very proud of her mama. Your achievement is just fantastic! Warm applause to you and your whole family.”

Clijsters and Henin faced each other twenty-two times during their careers from 1999 to 2006. Henin emerged victorious after twelve of those matches, including three Grand Slam finals.

    I can’t believe Serena but Congratulations to Kim, she did amazing for just coming out of retirement.
