What for? Her 2009 was unsuccessful. I don’t see what so great she’s done to get the award.

Darius the last sentence of your comment makes no sense. I havent said she did nothing but compared to last year there wasn’t much success. Dinara was also a finalist and won 4 tournaments, Dementieva won 3, Kuznetsova won a slam + China open so based on this I don’t understand how Venus is better than them. Maybe off court but certainly not because of on court achievements.

The award wasn’t so much for her work on the court, it was for her work off the court. Venus has done tremendous work as a Humanitarian and she repeatedly gets acknowledged for it. This is just another great honor bestowed upon her. I admit it too, her year on the courts weren’t that great.
