Maria Sharapova Unveils Partial 2010 Schedule

Instead of playing warm-up tournaments in Australia or New Zealand, Sharapova will begin 2010 with two exhibition events in Thailand and Hong Kong.

Maria Sharapova has announced her partial calendar for the 2010 Sony Ericsson WTA Tour season on her official website.

The three-time Grand Slam champion is expected to officially start her year at the Australian Open in Melbourne.

Instead of playing warm-up tournaments in Australia or New Zealand, Sharapova will begin 2010 with two exhibition events in Thailand and Hong Kong.

After Melbourne, Sharapova plans to return to the United States to compete at the Regions Morgan Keegan Championships & the Cellular South Cup in Memphis, Tennessee, opting to forgo joining the rest of the Tour’s top stars that week in Dubai.

She will then head to California in pursuit of her second title in Indian Wells, followed by a mandatory stop in Miami for the Sony Ericsson Open.

Sharapova plans to prepare for the French Open by playing Charleston and Madrid, and immediately after Paris, she will compete at Birmingham and Wimbledon.
