Six weeks after she originally entered the ASB Classic, Belgium’s Yanina Wickmayer has once again confirmed her entry into the Auckland tournament.
The International Tennis Federation officially lifted her suspension on Wednesday, giving Wickmayer the opportunity to resume her career in professional tennis.
“It is such good news and the best possible Christmas present that I am able to play. I had such a great 2009 on the court and now look forward to starting my 2010 at the ASB Classic in Auckland,” said Wickmayer.
“It has been a rollercoaster ride with Yanina and I am so thrilled for both her and the ASB Classic that the ride has finished on a high,” said ASB Classic tournament director, Brenda Perry.
The ASB Classic featuring the Kia Motors Singles and Doubles will be played at the ASB Tennis Centre January 4-9, with qualifying January 2-3.
