Monday marks a memorable day in the life of Samantha Stosur. The easy-going Australian has made her debut inside the Top 10 on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour.

Australia’s Samantha Stosur has a lot to be happy about as she prepares to compete at the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami.

The doubles specialist turned rising singles star made her debut inside the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour on Monday when the latest rankings were released.

Samantha StosurStosur, who reached the semifinals at the BNP Paribas Open last week, has been enjoying the best form of her career in recent months and is pleased to see those results reflected on the rankings.

“It’s a great feeling,” Stosur said when asked about her upcoming ascent to No. 10 while she was in Indian Wells. “To obviously have a smaller number next to your name is a great thing. It doesn’t help you win any more matches, but it’s certainly been a goal of mine for a long time to try and get there.”

Stosur’s new ranking is a fulfillment of a long-time dream that she has had since she was a child. “Since I was a little kid I wanted to try and be top 10 in the world, so now it’s happened,” Stosur added.
