Australia’s Samantha Stosur has a lot to be happy about as she prepares to compete at the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami.
The doubles specialist turned rising singles star made her debut inside the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour on Monday when the latest rankings were released.
Stosur, who reached the semifinals at the BNP Paribas Open last week, has been enjoying the best form of her career in recent months and is pleased to see those results reflected on the rankings.
“It’s a great feeling,” Stosur said when asked about her upcoming ascent to No. 10 while she was in Indian Wells. “To obviously have a smaller number next to your name is a great thing. It doesn’t help you win any more matches, but it’s certainly been a goal of mine for a long time to try and get there.”
Stosur’s new ranking is a fulfillment of a long-time dream that she has had since she was a child. “Since I was a little kid I wanted to try and be top 10 in the world, so now it’s happened,” Stosur added.

In couple years ahead, I think she still in her top performance. Keep in good work to have “best” service as her mainstay. All the best for Sam…
