Serena Williams to Return to Tennis in Rome
Reigning world number one Serena Williams has set the date of her return to the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour after spending over two months on the injured list.
Williams, who has not competed since she won her twelfth Grand Slam title at the Australian Open in January, has accepted a wild card into the 2010 Internazionali BNL d’ Italia in Rome, Italy.

A reoccurring knee injury has kept the Tour’s best player sidelined during most of the tennis season thus far, forcing Serena to withdraw from Paris, Dubai, Miami and last week, Marbella.
The Internazionali BNL d’ Italia is a Premier event on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour and is one of tennis’ biggest events on clay before Roland Garros.
The outdoor red clay tournament will be held May 2-8 at the Foro Italico and offers $2,000,000 in prize money.
