Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, will attend the tournament for the first time since 1977.
“We are delighted and honoured that the Queen has indicated that she will be attending The Championships this year and we very much look forward to welcoming Her Majesty back to Wimbledon, said Tim Phillips, Chairman of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, in the tournament’s official announcement.
“Wimbledon has changed considerably since the Queen’s previous visit in 1977, most notably with a transformation of the infrastructure bringing new and much improved facilities, including the Centre Court roof which was unveiled last year. What has not changed, though, is the essential character of Wimbledon, created by the passion of players and spectators alike who want to be part of one the world’s most exhilarating sporting events. It will certainly be an exciting occasion for everyone here.”
The 2010 Wimbledon Championships will be held at the All-England Lawn Tennis Club from June 21 – July 4.
Queen Elizabeth II, as the nation’s sovereign ruler, is the tournament’s official patron.

Is the Queen ready to be cried upon? She should go with one tea towel on one shoulder (for the boy loser, probably Federer), and one on the other (for Justine). And god forbid if that Murray guy gets to the final and WINS the thing (for heaven’s sake). Oh wait, that last bit won’t happen, I must be dreaming. Murray who?
Nay Pat! The Queen of England will congratulate the Queen of Tennis {As it should be played} Mamselle Justine Henin.
