Davenport, who is the mother of two children and has not played competitively since 2008, is planning to compete in women’s doubles with her compatriot and reigning doubles number one player Liezel Huber.
In a story first reported by Tennis.com, Huber told Radio Roland Garros that Davenport has committed to play doubles at the Bank of the West Classic in Stanford, California and the Mercury Insurance Open in San Diego, California. On Friday, the Mercury Insurance Open announced that Davenport had been awarded a wild card into the tournament.
Since leaving the Tour for the second time in 2008 due to the birth of her daughter Lauren, Davenport has been working as a television commentator, most notably for Tennis Channel.
In addition to fifty-five career singles titles including three Grand Slams, Davenport is the holder of thirty-seven doubles titles.

Welcome back Lindsay!!! You have always been one of my favorite players on the WTA Tour with you grace and your class.
I wouldn’t get too excited about a comeback it not the word that should be used here. Lindsay said on her twitter page that it will be for two tournaments and these two tournaments only. There will be no full comeback this time it just for fun.
Looking forward to seeing her play again even if it’s only for two doubles events and world team tennis.
