How to Hit a Tennis Kick Serve

Published by Joe Dinoffer on Jun 30, 2010 | Print |

The commonly recognized benefit of the kick or topspin serve is that it allows greater margin for error since the ball will pass higher over the net and then dip with topspin into the box.

To get an initial feel for the kick serve you can try something similar to the Spin Doctor, which is a device with a rotating ball. You may want to start from a modified starting position to really focus on the feel for brushing up the ball. Then, finally, integrate the kick into the full service motion.
