Justine Henin Officially Ends 2010 Tennis Season

Published by Aaress Lawless on Aug 18, 2010 | Print |

Former world number one Justine Henin has officially ended her 2010 Sony Ericsson WTA Tour tennis season early due to an injury sustained at the Wimbledon Championships.

Henin, who returned to the Tour only in January after two years in retirement, announced the news of her decision on her official website.

“It is a slow recovery so I need to be patient again until the end of 2010,” wrote Henin.

“For my preparation for the competition in 2011, I cannot take any risks, so I hope to go back to practice in October. I’ll work hard to get ready for this new season!”

Henin won the women’s singles title at the US Open in 2003 and 2007.

When I saw Justine fall, straight arm,I thought this could be a career threatening injury {seen this before} now thankfully it isn,t,but no one in the media gave Justine any credit for playing 2 sets with this injury, and this courage is probably the reason why its taking so long for the healing process to work…Give the girl a big round of applause..I do,every day,no one deserves it more…Allez 2011 Justine
