Your Call: Who Will Win the 2010 US Open?

Published by Aaress Lawless on Sep 11, 2010 | Print |

After two spectacular weeks of play at Flushing Meadows, it’s come down to a final showdown between Kim Clijsters and Vera Zvonareva. Tell us who you think will win the 2010 US Open!

Despite this year’s loaded field, it is hardly a surprise to see Kim Clijsters back in her third consecutive US Open final. She’s riding a 20-match winning streak at Flushing Meadows, and is favored to extend that stretch to 21 tonight by clinching her third major title.

But standing in Clijsters’ path is a woman who has seemingly emerged out of Grand Slam obscurity—-Vera Zvonareva. Always lost in the Russian shuffle of top players such as Maria Sharapova, Elena Dementieva, Svetlana Kuznetsova and Anastasia Myskina, only her staunchest fans thought Vera could ever win a major title. Yet, for the second major in a row, Zvonareva’s in the final. Can she take it one step further today?

Leave a comment with your opinion on who’s going to win the final tonight! Don’t forget to follow On the Baseline on Twitter for up-to-the-minute final coverage!

Vera certainly has a good chance to win her first Major singles-title. She’s beaten Clijsters the last two times they’ve played, and I think she learned a lot from the Wimbledon final. I believe that her time has come.
