Williams, who had foot surgery in July, revealed on Sunday that she had restrained the injury. While stopping short of officially announcing withdrawals from the season-ending WTA Championships or the Fed Cup by BNP Paribas final, Williams did admit that she is doubtful for any further events this year.
“I am likely out for the year now,” Williams wrote in a blog post today on her official website.
“I was really looking forward to beginning my comeback in Linz, followed by the Year-end championships in Doha. I feel completely heartbroken, and devastated, but knowing I will never be given more than I can handle I plan on coming back stronger and better. However, in order not to make this worse, I have to chill on my physical workouts but I will immediately begin rehabbing as soon as I get the Doc’s OK. Keep me in your prayers (I need them).”
Earlier this week, Venus Williams withdrew from both the Championships and Fed Cup because of a knee injury.

Yep, it’s official the Williams’ dynasty is in its last stage. First Venus ends her season know Serena is on the verge of ending hers (not confirmed) due to injuries but as history has shown us every good thing must eventually come to an end. When there careers are officially over they will be dearly missed!
I don’t know that everything is over with regarding the Williams’ sisters. They have been down before (w Serena, I don’t think her knee ever fully recovered) with injuries and have come back. It will be a matter of how their bodies feel but I think they will both make a run at Australia.
Not so fast, Venus may be the first to go out, I think she will make a run and leave after Wimbledon ( if she doesn’t win the championship). When Serena is healthy, her only REAL opposition is Kim Clysters. So I think she will be around at least until the Olympics in 2012. You are right everything must come to an end and as Americans we don’t have any REAL talent for a champion in the making.
Hang in there Serena…take care of yourself…you have nothing to prove…you already have!!! God speed to you in your recovery!
