In a story reported by the Associated Press, Vujacic confirmed that he had proposed to the three-time major champion and was accepted.
“We are engaged and are both really happy,” said Vujacic said on Thursday. “It’s good and now we can focus on other things.”
The engagement has since been confirmed by Sharapova’s agent. No wedding date has been announced.
Sharapova ended her 2010 Sony Ericsson WTA Tour tennis season early this year due to ongoing recovery from shoulder surgery.
