Former world No.1 Ana Ivanovic has reached an agreement with Nigel Sears for the Briton to become her new full-time coach. He has resigned from his job as Head of Women’s Tennis at the Lawn Tennis Association and will travel to all of Ivanovic’s upcoming tournaments.

“I couldn’t be happier,” said the 23-year-old. “I’ve admired Nigel for some time now, and I can’t wait to start working with him on court.

“It was important that I waited for the right coach, and we are both excited about the challenges ahead.”

Sears enjoyed significant success at the LTA, helping both Elena Baltacha and Anne Keothavong break into the top 50 for the first time. Previously he worked alongside Daniela Hantuchova and Amanda Coetzer while both were ranked inside the top 10.

Ivanovic expects to appoint a new fitness trainer within weeks.
