“The Tour” Film Gains Momentum and Support from the Pro Tennis Community
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) July 11, 2012 An independent film titled “The Tour” has caught the attention of the tennis world. Produced by Jeremy Mitchell and Brad Benedict, the film follows the journey of players competing on the tennis world tour. Drawn by the filmmakers’ heartfelt mission to energize the sport’s public profile and their dedication to an authentic portrayal, members of the tennis community are showing their support for the work in progress.
Based on Mitchell and Benedict’s tennis careers, the film has the support of John Isner, who is currently, the highest ranked American tennis player and Benedict’s former teammate at the University of Georgia. Isner, along with fellow pro Sam Querrey, are slated to make cameo appearances in “The Tour”.
Recently seen on Twitter, Isner tweeted “Check out this tennis film a former Georgia Bulldog teammate @bpbenedict is producing: http://kck.st/KSh9mX My acting debut!”
Ryan Sweeting, Melanie Oudin, Eric Butorac, Jamie Hampton, and Jean Julien Rojer are also among those who lent their support in a promo video for the film’s Kickstarter page.
Mitchell and Benedict have been developing the project for several years. It has been their dream to create “The Tour”. As former competitors, they sought to make a film dedicated to a genuine look at the American sports psyche of chasing greatness at any cost. “The Tour” will explore players’ incredible stories, including their journeys, trials, and relationships. Another goal of the film is to pay tribute to the beloved sport, as well as reach new audiences.
Mitchell says, “Tennis deserves its own great movie.”
Both producers have deep roots in tennis. Benedict began playing very early, and his father was a tennis professional for 30 years. He continued his personal tennis journey through college, playing on UGA’s 2007 championship team. He continues to contribute to the community, playing in charity tournaments and working with junior players. Mitchell dedicated his life to tennis from the age of 3, training with top coaches, and players, including Rick Macci, Andy Roddick, and the Williams sisters. He went on the Pro Tour at 18. He began acting to fund his time on the tour, and eventually found it, along with filmmaking, to be his passion. He has since gone on to produce three features. Instead of the Pro Tour Jeremy hopes to make the definitive movie about the sport and in the process have a greater impact than he ever could have had as a player.
“The Tour” is currently raising funds to begin production. The Kickstarter page for “The Tour” can be found at: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/thetourfilm/the-tour-an-indie-feature-film
