Ivanovic defeated second seed Svetlana Kuznetsova 6-4, 6-3 to win the Tier I tournament in Indian Wells, California.

Jelena Jankovic completed the 2008 Pacific Life Open semifinals on Thursday after Lindsay Davenport retired with a back injury.
Jankovic, the third seed at the Tier I tournament, was leading 6-2 when Davenport could not continue playing.
