After struggling to a hard fought win on Wednesday, top seed and world No. 1 Maria Sharapova is headed right back on court Thursday for her second round match against Bethanie Mattek.

The Pacific Life Open crowned a new champion on Sunday as top seed Ana Ivanovic captured the 2008 women’s singles title.
Ivanovic defeated second seed Svetlana Kuznetsova 6-4, 6-3 to win the Tier I tournament in Indian Wells, California.
