<p>Denmark&#8217;s Caroline Wozniacki edged closer to a Top 10 debut after reaching the final at the 2008 FORTIS Championships Luxembourg. Wozniacki advanced from No. 16 to a career high of No. 13. </p>

<p>Venus Williams, who won last week&#8217;s Tennis.com Zurich Open, was the only player in the Top 10 to advance. </p>
<p>Current No. 1 Jelena Jankovic now holds a 773-point lead over No. 2 Dinara Safina and is 839-points ahead of No. 3 Serena Williams. Safina and Williams are not expected to compete again until the season-ending Championships. </p>

<p>Williams remained the world&#8217;s No. 1 player when the latest rankings were released on Monday following the Toray Pan Pacific Open. </p>
<p>Dinara Safina, the singles champion in Japan, advanced to a new career high of No. 3. Safina is just the fifth Russian to crack the Top 3, after Myskina, Sharapova, Kuznetsova and Petrova.</p>
