What is a RSS Feed? | Print This Page
RSS (”Really Simple Syndication”) can help you stay updated with the latest tennis news, results, and commentary from On the Baseline.
Instead of having to check our site manually, or subscribe to the daily email update service, the RSS (also known as XML) feed will “ping” your feed reader of choice to let you know quickly when the site has been updated.
On the Baseline offers RSS feeds for the entire site or just specific categories. At the bottom of this article, you’ll find links to the most popular RSS feeds that we offer, including feeds for Grand Slam coverage. To find more RSS feeds, just look for the
symbol as you navigate our site.
Get a RSS Feed Reader
Before you get started, you need to have a RSS feed reader.
RSS feeds are read using software called a “feed reader” or an “aggregator.” You can subscribe to a feed by entering the feed’s link into the reader or by clicking a RSS icon in a browser that launches the subscription process. The reader will check your subscribed feeds regularly for new content, and will automatically download any updates that it finds.
There is an abundance of RSS reading software available for PC and MAC users, but the most popular are web-based Google Reader and Bloglines.
Don’t worry, both sites feature easy explanations of how to use their service to find and subscribe to RSS feeds
